When teenage meets old age

A new TV series starts tonight on BBC2. It aims to bring young and older people closer together to enrichen experiences and change attitudes.

It may be coincidence that this is also the start of half-term week for most schools. It was eerily quiet outside our local school this morning but half-term actually means more visitors to our coastal village.

It's a time when many children get to spend time with grandparents and great-grandparents. Not necessarily in the name of intergenerational exchange but this bond between generations, whether it's regular childcare or half-term visits, is one of the treasures and lynchpins of our society. But it's not often the subject of a TV series.   21 February 2011
