Councils are being inundated with last minute applications to hold street parties across the country to mark the royal wedding on 29 April. Several have extended their deadline to accommodate this growing interest for what could be one of the biggest get-togethers of all ages that Britain has seen in recent times. No doubt the fact that 29 April has been designated as a bank holiday, making a four day weekend, will encourage many more parties, both formal and informal.
