Campaigning for all ages

In all the coverage of the recent elections, much was made of the success of some young candidates - in Liverpool and York for example - but little was said about the Pensioners Party which contested seats in the Scottish Parliament.

Interestingly the leader of the Pensioners Party said: "Our Party is completely non-political by which I mean that we come from all sorts of backgrounds and in actual fact  we could be better described as a power group for pensioners. The other most oppressed group in Scotland are the Students who are having 'pay-back' conditions heaped upon them by cynical politicians, many of whom had the benefit of a free education themselves. We plan to highlight the student's situation at every opportunity and we will not rest until this financial burden is lifted from their shoulders."

Can students and pensioners join forces for an intergenerational campaign? 15 May 2011
